Kutch nahi dekha to kuch nahi dekha..!

Welcome to the largest district of India. A seasonal salt marshland situated in the heart of the Thar Desert with Gujarat on one side and Pakistan’s Sind province on the other, the district spans about 7,505.22 square kilometres (2,897.78 sq mi) and is one of the largest salt deserts in the world. ‘Rann’ means desert in Hindi which in turn is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Irina’ which also means desert. The Great Rann of Kutch, the Little Rann of Kutch and the Banni grasslands at the southern fringe, makes up for some 30,000 square kilometres of white lands, sweeping the Gulf of Kutch at one end, and the seat of the great Indus Valley Civilization on the other, falling in southern Pakistan. The Rann Utsav or Kutch festival provides an exclusive opportunity to witness the creative ingenuity of the artisans and craftspeople, assorted array of folk music and performances, mixed representation of culture and communities, along with a vast diversity in ecology. All this and much more describe and define Kutch and the people.

  • Get your motorcycle service well in advance and do not wait for the last minute. At ground level the most important thing are the tyres and the wheels. Ensure that you have adequate tread on them. We recommend you start the ride with a brand new set of tubes; you are less likely to face punctures.
  • Get the rims trued, an out of shape rim will affect handling.
  • Inspect and make sure that your bike has genuine OE parts, especially hubs, spokes, rims and other engine components. We cannot provide support for modified items and in such case you are requested to carry your own spares. We can make arrangements to carry them in the service truck.
  • Check the rear swing-arm bush for play and replace if needed.
  • Check the condition of front fork oil seals and replace if needed.
  • Check your chain and rear sprocket for wear. If you find that there are less than four notch adjustments or broken teeth, replace your chain and both your sprockets.
  • Your bikes clutch is really crucial for this trip, so make sure that your clutch is in good order and adjusted properly .When you open your clutch cover, also check the primary chain and the adjuster. Do not use any kind of additional insert under the chain adjuster. If the adjuster has reached its limit replace the primary chain.
  • Check for play in the steering column and replace the ball race bearing if necessary.
  • Check all the rubber components like carburettor manifold, fuel lines, air filter manifold etc. for cracks and tears and replace if in doubt.
  • Check all cables and if found bent or frayed, replace immediately.
  • Finally tighten all the nuts and bolts and if it is found to slip or the threads are damaged replace the relevant parts.

We try to keep rules and regulations to the minimum unless when necessary for the harmony and safety of the individual or group. However we expect the few that we have, should be followed very strictly, failing which we may exclude that particular participant from the rest of the trip.

  • Intoxication:We do not allow any form of intoxication when on the bike.
  • Conduct:Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that preserves their dignity and others around them, including other participants, support staff and locals of the region.
  • Environmental responsibility:We must try and ensure that we maintain the sanctity of the region we are passing through and respect the surroundings. Littering of any kind will not be accepted on the trip.
  • Medical advice:If you are under medical treatment we expect you to follow the medical advice very strictly.
  • Service backup – we will have a mechanic travelling along with some basic spares. If needed, parts may be replaced and the rider will be charged as per the current price in Kutch for the same. We will do our best to help with the bike but in these hard conditions each rider is responsible for bringing his bike home. Therefore bike preparation is very crucial and the scrutiny will be thorough. We will guide you in both.
